Think Global Awards Winner of an International Business Award

The Think Global Awards were named the winner of a Bronze Stevie® Award in the Corporate & Community - Community Engagement Event category in The 16th Annual International Business Awards®.

The International Business Awards are the world's premier business awards program. All individuals and organizations worldwide – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small - are eligible to submit nominations. The 2019 IBAs received entries from organizations in 74 nations and territories.

Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word for "crowned," the awards will be presented to winners at a gala awards banquet at the ANDAZ Hotel am Belvedere, Vienna, Austria on 19 October.

A record total of more than 4,000 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration in a wide range of categories, including Company of the Year, Marketing Campaign of the Year, Best New Product or Service of the Year, Startup of the Year, Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year, and Executive of the Year, among others. The Think Global Forum won in the Corporate & Community - Community Engagement Event category.

"The Think Global Forum is delighted to win an International Business Award; it is particularly rewarding for the team behind the scenes to be recognized for all the hard work and effort that goes into making the Think Global Forum and Think Global Awards program a success. We are very fortunate to have a growing global community as part of the Think Global Forum, of which the Think Global Awards is an exciting rapidly expanding initiative" commented Simon Hodgkins, Founder, Think Global Forum.

Stevie Award winners were determined by the average scores of more than 250 executives worldwide who participated in the judging process from May through early August.

“We are continually striving to improve and grow the value of the Think Global Forum and Think Global Awards as an inclusive thought leadership community. As such, it is an especially encouraging accomplishment to receive a Stevie® Award for this category,” added Gregory Twohig, Program Director, Think Global Forum.

"The IBA judges from across the world were highly impressed with the nominations they reviewed this year. With the level of achievement documented in the nominations from 74 nations, the Stevie Awards are proud to honor organizations that demonstrate a high level of achievement in a variety of industries," said Michael Gallagher, president and founder of the Stevie Awards. "We received more nominations than ever and look forward to honoring the Stevie winners at our gala in Vienna, Austria this October."

The judging panel commented on the positive scope and impact of the Think Global Forum; "A specialised industry forum taking steps to widen its scope and impact. Think Global Forum NYC

Think Global Forum NYC

It was all about Ireland and the United States when the Think Global Forum returned to New York City on May 20th. The event was hosted by Vistatec in partnership with Enterprise Ireland at the Irish Consulate on Park Avenue. Many esteemed guests and forum executives from some of the world’s premiere companies and organizations were in attendance.

Think Global Forum was honored that Ambassador of Ireland to the United States, Daniel Mulhall, attended the event and opened the forum by discussing the growth of globalization and the Irish economy. “…Ireland has been transformed because our economy has undergone a dramatic overhaul. We have now become of one the most open economies in the world” he said .

Vistatec attendees included Unn Villius, CSO, Jill Goldsberry, Director of Sales, and Priscillia Charles, Communications Director, Think Global Forum.

“I was very impressed with the guest speakers at the Think Global Forum New York. I found the diverse range of topics discussed; e-commerce localization, outsourcing the entire localization program, etc. fascinating. It was also a pleasure to spend time and learn from so many seasoned executives” commented Goldsberry.

When speaking on eCommerce localization, Yuka Kurihara (Director of Globalization, Pitney Bowes) stated that “Global eCommerce really presents a great opportunity for all size businesses, but you can only be successful if you really take the localization and globalization requirements seriously”.

Amongst the guest speakers was also Jeff Marques (Senior Program Manager, Globalization, Adobe), who gave  an insightful presentation on outsourcing localization “Synergize the entire thing. Make your vendor part of the team” said Marques.

Enterprise Ireland (EI) is a long-standing partner and supporter of Vistatec. As an organization within the Irish government, EI is in charge of promoting the development and growth of Irish businesses in world markets. Representing the organization was Hannah Webb, Senior Vice President, Business and Consumer Services, Talent Management and BPO, Enterprise Ireland.

“The Think Global Forums hosted by Vistatec are an excellent way to bring together industry leaders to discuss the future of business. When I attended the forum in NYC this spring, I was very impressed with the quality of the speakers and the content. It’s refreshing to attend an event that highlights key topics like e-commerce or partnering and then encourages open discussion of the themes and challenges brought to light. The level of expertise in the room was significant and the attendees were so engaged in the conversation whether they were in retail, finance, or technology. I’m definitely looking forward to the next TGF!” said Webb when asked about her experience at the event.

Following the presentations, a private reception and dinner was enjoyed by the guests who continued to network discuss the themes of the day.

Thank you to everyone who attended the inaugural Think Global Forum NYC Event. A special thanks to Enterprise Ireland for co-sponsoring as well as Daniel Mulhall and the Irish Consulate for hosting. We appreciate your support and looks forward to continuing a wonderful partnership.

I battled through Storm Ali to attend the Retail Excellence eCommerce Conference 2018 in Dublin.

As part of the Think Global Forum (TGF) initiative, I will be hosting our second Retail & eCommerce gathering in London next week so it was great to hear from the experts on the latest hot topics in the industry ahead of our own event. My interest lies in the impact that these trends will have on the professional community whose focus it is to ensure ‘going-global’ success.

Some great insights and experiences were shared, providing me with plenty of food for thought:

  • Personalisation is widely acknowledged to be the future of successful eCommerce.

  • You need to bring people on a cross channel journey, prompted by personalised onsite product recommendations, emails, popups and social media ads at different stages.

  • It is no surprise then that behavioural data accounts for 98.4% of all data generated by shoppers.

  • The 2019 E-Commerce KPI Report created by Wolfgang Digital is well worth a download.

  • If your website is not responsive /mobile friendly, you are behind already.

  • Ashley Mc Donnell from Christian Dior spoke about how we can learn a lot from Chinese technology in retail.

  • This New York Times video tells us about the WeChat phenomenon.

  •  ‘Get in there quick!’ Ctrip (now trip.com), is a travel platform used extensively by Chinese travelers. It is barely used by retailers in Ireland so there is a huge opportunity for first mover advantage to make your brand visible to Chinese travelers visiting Ireland.

  • A recent study found that 49% of US consumers turn to Amazon first when shopping for products online. What does that tell us about where we should be spending our SEO budget?

  • The person who engages with you through Facebook or other social media channels is twice as likely to buy from you than through your website. Facebook now provides analytics which is a huge step forward considering its importance for retail engagement.

  • For SMEs and local retailers, providing a Click & Collect facility is key to survival but it needs to be well planned and executed.

  • Brexit, the ubiquitous elephant in the room, is a huge challenge for most companies, but is it an opportunity for ferry companies to become floating shopping centres with duty free ?

There is a lot of conjecture about the impact that digital transformation will have on retail; keeping up with ecommerce trends is key to weathering the storm. I’m really excited about continuing this conversation with our expert Think Global Forum Executives when I chair the boardroom session in London for the upcoming Think Global Forum Retail and eCommerce event at the Corinthia Hotel, Whitehall, London.

Think Global Forum announces latest Life Sciences event

Think Global Forum - Life Sciences 2018

September 07, 2018. Mountain View | California

For Immediate Release

The Think Global Forum for Life Sciences is set to return after a successful launch in 2017. The follow-up event will be taking place on September 12, 2018, at the Illumina Worldwide Headquarters in San Diego, CA.

San Diego is home to an impressive number of globally focused life sciences companies - Illumina, an industry leader in genomics, is a stellar example. This year, the second edition will gather life sciences, biotech and healthcare professionals alongside existing Forum Executives to discuss upcoming industry opportunities and challenges.

“Illumina is delighted to host the Think Global Forum this year. The Think Global Forum sponsored by Vistatec is a unique opportunity to assemble thought leaders in global Life Sciences to advance global initiatives,” commented Kathleen Pierce, Illumina’s Content Operations Director.

The event will see senior leaders from the sector coming together to discuss the changing face of the industry and the very latest topics that may impact its future, whether it is challenges ahead or upcoming global trends in the life science sector.

According to a 2018 Deloitte study, one of the main aspects of the fourth industrial revolution is the rise in global health care costs, soaring from seven trillion dollars in 2015 to 8.7 trillion dollars by 2020.

The industrialization of the sector also remains highly impactful, with AI, cognitive technologies, automation, and computing power rapidly expanding.

The Life Sciences Forum returning edition follows other successful events this year, including the Technology, Travel and Retail & eCommerce Think Global Forums.

“I am looking forward to participating in the Think Global Forum again this year. The inaugural event last year elicited some truly meaningful dialogue. There are not so many opportunities to participate in forums of this size that advance knowledge sharing and innovation in our industry. It’s also an honor to be asked to be the keynote speaker at this year’s event,” commented Richard Korn, Senior Manager, Global Labeling at Edwards Life Sciences.
